Black and Bloom

Perennial - Herbaceous Deciduous
Aromatic foliage
Colors: Dark blue
Height: 1.2 m
Spread: 1.2 m
Flowering: Summer to Autumn
Growing conditions: Full sun or Partial shade
Pruning category: Herbaceous Deciduous

Planted in mid Summer 2020
Position: East facing in full sun

It looks like Salvia Amistad, except that the leaves are greener and the flowers are blue
This summer I made a mistake with Salvia Black and Bloom.
I bought it together with Amistad, they looked about the same, only that Black and Bloom was a little smaller, so I planted them together at a distance of about 30 cm. I wanted the spikes with flowers to come out through the branches of a rose. I didn't know Amistad is a sage monster 😊. It grew faster and covered Black and Bloom. At first I didn't realize (there were a lot of spikes with flowers everywhere), but when I had some free time and took care of the garden I saw the difference between them and that Black and Bloom was suffocated. I cut one Amistad branches and made space for Black and Bloom.
Now it begins to bloom even if it is first November.

Spring 2021
Disappointed
It did not survive over the winter
In the spring time the plant not come back

Care: During flowering time cut back spent flower stem to encourage new growth to come out. You have to cut it back where you see new leaves coming out.

Diseases: Generally disease free.
Specific pests: Leafhoppers, Slugs, Snails
