I bought freesias because I found them with a reduced price and I planted them in a container part of a floral arrangement.
I liked them very much, with very strong scent and always visited by a lot of bumblebees, so I decided to plant them in the ground after the flowers withered.
I chose a spot near to the fence to the east in full sun. Near the fence because they grow tall and need support.
I know that freesia is more complicated with bulbs, it requires preparation before planting. Depending on this, the bulbs should be planted in autumn or spring time. That's why I planted flowering freesias, and leave the bulbs in the ground.
Many people prefer not to complicate themselves with the bulbs and to buy Freesias in bloom or already prepared bulbs to plant in the spring.
Considering that in the UK the winters are mild I am very curious if any flower will come out next year.
Finally, even if the Freesias last over the winter, the bulbs must be dig up every 3-4 years.
I'll keep you posted
