Bulbs lasagne.
The largest and latest flowering bulbs go in deepest, moving to the smallest and earliest in the top layer.
Example: Bulb lasagna from Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths and Crocus
Place gravel on the bottom to avoid blocking the drain of the pot with soil.
Mixture used: 3 multi-purpose compost, 1 potting soil, 1 grit or sand (I prefer grit but the sand is also very good). The grit or sand is mandatory to ensure aeration of the soil.
Bottom layer - late Spring flowers (Tulips 20 cm deep)
The emergent shoots of the lower layer bulbs just bend round anything they hit sitting over their heads and keep on growing.
Last fall (2019) I made bulb lasagne in the ground.
The problem was that after the tulip flowers withered, you can't cut their leaves because you have to keep them in the ground until the leaves go dry.
This makes part of the garden to look bad, without flowers, with some dried leaves.
This year I made bulb lasagne only in pots and containers:
Yellow and Orange (Orca) Tulips, Daffodils, Hyacinths with Crocus on top.
Daffodils, Hyacinths with Crocus on top.
Red dwarf Tulips with Hyacinths on top.
Lilies with Daffodils on top.
I also planted pansies in the top so that the pots would not be empty over the winter.
It is easier to take care of after there are no more flowers, the pot can move to hidden places until the leaves can be cut.
We'll see what comes out in the spring 😊
